Visiting Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona, the cosmopolitan capital of Spain’s Catalonia region, is known for its art and architecture. The fantastical Sagrada Família church and other modernist landmarks designed by Antoni Gaudí dot the city. Museu Picasso and Fundació Joan Miró feature modern art by their namesakes. City history museum MUHBA, includes several Roman archaeological sites. ― Google

We only spent one day and a half in Barcelona but what we saw was beautiful.

Our hotel was luxurious and the view spectacular.  Walking distance to the ocean.  We strolled the area after a nap.  The excitement and time change were exhausting.

We found a local restaurant where the servers spoke no English and the menu was in Spanish.  It was a beautiful open air upscale eatery.

When I looked at the menu. Al said “we gotta get out of here “lol .  There was no way I was gonna leave this place so we sat down and tried to communicate the we could.

It had such great ambience.    The locals were there with wine a plenty at every table. I finally thought I could understand a few of the menu items and when the waiter came over to our table, I pointed to One, which was veal and he said in Spanish with a smile that it was a good choice so I ordered it.

They had some sort of cannelloni on the menu and I said to Al that has to be similar to an Italian dish so he took a chance and it ended up being good. It had a cream sauce over it and I tried to communicate to the waiter and ask him what was inside the cannelloni and all I remember him saying was MEAT very distinctly. I asked no more questions .  We relaxed . It was a gorgeous night  but then time to go back to the hotel.

The next morning!!!!!

Wow what a buffet!   I loved it.  Very European!
So many options.  Forget the eggs and bacon lol. Hubby did order an omelet.

Our view from the hotel room

The restaurant we ate at.   We enjoyed outside dining.  The weather was perfect!

Beautiful hotel. A Marriott. It was being renovated but the rooms were finished.
Our room had an ocean view which was spectacular .

Veal tips, tender and so flavorful.  I had the waiter choose for me.  I can’t believe tomatillos and fries were served with this meal?

Thinly sliced fresh pineapple and a dip

Of coconut gelato                                                                       Dessert

                        The pool

Pretty view

Streets annd walkways  are narrow and treeroots sprouting everywhere.  Nice walk it you didn’t have to be so careful with bulging tile.

A gorgeous view.

A quick visit but unless I learn some Spanish I don’t think we’ll be back!

I hope it was an enjoyable a small
Tour.      Sharing to help brighten your day.
