Campanelle with Vodka Sauce

This recipe is very easy and  you don't need to put a lot of spices in it..You can add the vodka or leave it out.
This sauce will be the sauce of choice for my chicken and mozzarella ravioli on Christmas Day!  I will eliminate the vodka since my grandchildren will definitely try some.

Vodka Sauce


½ cup butter
1 clove garlic minced
1 small diced onion
½ cup vodka
1 15 oz can diced tomatoes with onion
1 28 oz. Can crushed tomatoes
1 tsp. sugar
2 or 3 fresh basil leaves or 1 tsp. Dried basil
1 pt. Heavy cream or half and half

In skillet over medium heat sauté onion in butter until lightly browned and soft, add garlic.  Pour in vodka and cook 10 minutes, Add tomatoes, basil, sugar and cook 30 minutes.  Pour in half and half cook another 30 minutes..Enjoy!
